How I Went From Overwhelmed Sports Mom to Creating More Time & Income

May 04, 20264 min read

Does busy sports mom life feel overwhelming? Here’s how I created more time, simplified my schedule, and started making income from home.

Introduction:

If you would’ve asked me a couple years ago how I was really doing, I probably would’ve smiled and said, “Busy… but good.”

But the truth?

I was overwhelmed, stretched thin, and constantly feeling like I was behind.

Between practices, games, work, laundry, dinners, and trying to keep up with everything else life throws at you… I felt like I was living in survival mode.

Running from one thing to the next. Living out of my car half the time. Ending most days completely exhausted.

And through all of it, I kept thinking:

There has to be a better way to do this.

8 Reasons

The Reality of Being a Sports Mom

If you’re here, I already know a little about you.

Your calendar revolves around practice schedules.
Your weekends aren’t really “weekends”—they’re tournaments, early mornings, and long days at the field.
You’ve mastered packing snacks, folding chairs, and somehow making it all work.

And you love it. You really do.

But at the same time… it’s a lot.

There’s this constant pull between:

  • wanting to be fully present for your kids

  • needing (or wanting) to contribute financially

  • and trying not to completely lose yourself in the process

I lived in that tension every single day.

My Breaking Point

For me, the shift didn’t happen overnight.

It happened in small moments… stacking up over time.

Sitting in the car thinking about everything I still needed to get done.
Feeling guilty when I worked… and guilty when I didn’t.
Realizing I was always busy, but not always moving forward.

I didn’t want to keep living like that.

Not because I didn’t love this season of life… but because I knew I needed a better way to live in it.

What I Realized (This Changed Everything)

I used to think I needed:

  • more time

  • more energy

  • or a completely different schedule

But that wasn’t it.

What I actually needed was:
better systems, clearer priorities, and a way to create flexibility in my life.

Not perfection.
Not 5AM wake-ups (even though I love getting up before everyone else for "me" time)
Not a color-coded life that falls apart the second something changes.

I needed something that worked in real life.

What I Started Doing Differently

I stopped trying to “do it all”… and started being intentional about what actually mattered.

I created simple systems that:

  • helped me plan my week around our sports schedule (not against it)

  • gave me focused pockets of time instead of trying to work all day

  • allowed me to start building income in a way that fit into my life, not the other way around

And slowly… things started to shift.

I felt less scattered.
Less reactive.
More in control.

The Income Piece (Because It Matters)

Travel sports aren’t cheap. Life isn’t cheap.

And for a long time, I thought making extra income meant sacrificing more time… time I didn’t have.

That’s when I started exploring ways to create income online.

Something flexible.
Something I could do from my phone.
Something that didn’t take me away from the moments I didn’t want to miss.

And while it wasn’t perfect, it was possible.

Where I Am Now

My life isn’t perfect.

We’re still busy. We’re still at the fields. There are still chaotic days.

But I don’t feel like I’m constantly drowning anymore.

I have:

  • systems that support me

  • time that feels more intentional

  • and income streams that give us more flexibility

And maybe most importantly…

I feel like me again.

If You’re Feeling Like This Too…

You’re not behind.
You’re not doing it wrong.
And you don’t have to keep living in overwhelm to be a great mom.

There is a way to:

  • be present

  • support your family

  • and create something for yourself too

It just requires doing things differently.

Final Thoughts

This season of life is full, and it’s meaningful, but that doesn’t mean it has to feel overwhelming all the time.

You deserve to feel present and supported.
You deserve to build something for yourself too.

And most importantly, you don’t have to figure it all out on your own.
